+ Ani Difranco, born Angela Marie Difranco on September 23, 1970 is today one of the most influential women in the music industry. It's hard to talk about her in such a small space. Born in Buffalo, New York, this outspoken artist moved out of her house when she was 14, she moved to New York to try and become a folk artist. Through constant touring, and playing gigs wherever she could get them she made a name for herself slowly. By the age of 19 she had written more that 100 songs on her own.
+ Through underground fans, and people passing her music around this self proclaimed bi-sexual has amassed a huge following without ever signing a record label, putting out a cd, or promoting herself at all. In the early 1990's Ani started her own record label, now known as Righteous Babe Records. She has single handedly written, recorded, and released 13 albums on her label, and sold over 4 million copies altogether. She is truly one of the most respected women of our day.
